Michigan joins National Motor Vehicle database

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

If you've ever bought a used car, you may have wondered if you were really getting what you paid for.

But that worry could now be a thing of the past, thanks to a national database Michigan is now joining. The database does more than just help buyers.

For a few bucks, that database can now help you dig up more information on nearly any used car, even if it's from out-of-state. Consumers and car dealers agree, it's a good thing for business.

Michigan is now locked in to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System, giving consumers more power.

Out-of-state used cars damaged in a crash or flood will soon sport a special label once in Michigan.

The change will help both consumers and car dealers know exactly what's on the lot.

With the addition of Michigan, Illinois and Texas in recent weeks, you can now get information on 96-percent of vehicles currently on the road.
