BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan company is growing and it could mean more jobs for the area.

Landaal Packaging Systems broke ground Wednesday on their multi-million dollar expansion in Bay City near the site of it's current facility.

"We really believe in growing the community and giving back to the community," company president Steve Landaal said.

He said the new 66,000 square foot facility will eventually create about 10 new jobs over the next few years.

"It's clearly a move to better serve our customers and to add jobs to the community," Landaal said. "That's what's its all about, providing good paying jobs for families so they can raise their families."

County Commissioner Chris Girard said the ongoing partnership between the company and the city is a win for everyone.

"The fact that they chose to expand here when there's opportunities to expand elsewhere, that says a lot for our community," Girard said.

The company is expected to officially break ground in the next few weeks and complete construction on the new building by next May.
