Mysterious creature spotted in Flint

Posted: Updated:
BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

A mysterious creature has been spotted in Mid-Michigan and no one's quite sure what it is.

A local radio station said it's received several calls about the critter, but no one can identify it.

"Definitely nothing you want to take home," said Clay Church, operations manager of Townsquare Media. "I never get a long look because I'm usually turning running away from it."

They said it's bigger than a squirrel with a rat-like tail. The rodent-like creatures are lurking on the streets of Flint.

Church sees these critters often. He even had callers Wednesday morning say they've seen it too.

"My wife and I have seen them a couple times, it's crazy to see something that big walking around in a parking lot," Church said.

Witnesses believe the critters reside somewhere in downtown Flint. Mostly they are seen around U of M Flint, and by the water.

"I think it's a muskrat. We talked about it this morning on the radio and we had suggestions from otter to woodchuck and they all look a little similar, but I do think it's a muskrat," Church said.

"They're nasty looking. People are wondering, what in the world is this thing doing here? I don't think they are going to hurt anyone or plotting a revolt, but just a few more wandering around," Church said.
