Man killed in Isabella Co. crash

ISABELLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A Mt. Pleasant man is dead after a two-car crash in Isabella County's Isabella Township on Thursday afternoon.

Police say 73-year-old James Harry Chaney was killed during the crash, which occurred around 4 p.m. on Baseline Road near Lincoln Road.

According to the Isabella County Sheriff's Department, Chaney failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling south on Lincoln Road. He crashed into a vehicle being driven by 24-year-old Adam Hardenburgh.

Chaney was not wearing a seat belt. He was transported to McLaren-Central Michigan, where he was pronounced dead.

Hardenburgh sustained minor injuries. A passenger in Chaney's vehicle, 52-year-old Robert Powell was transported to McLaren-Central Michigan for non life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
