Man thrown from buggy during hit and run, police search for driver

CLARE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The Clare Police Department was dispatched to McEwan and Mary Street for a hit-and-run accident involving an Amish buggy on July 19.

The driver of the buggy, and witnesses, told police he was rearended by a silver/gray vehicle while driving south on McEwan.

The driver of the buggy was thrown out into the roadway and the horse ran off around the corner onto Mary Street, police said.

The vehicle which struck the buggy changed lanes and quickly accelerated without stopping, police said. The driver was described as a white male with short blonde hair.

The driver of the buggy sustained minor injuries and refused to be transported to the hospital, police said.

The vehicle involved probably has damage on the front passenger side and the hood, police said.
