PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A woman celebrating her 102nd birthday got a big surprise Tuesday when she boarded a TriMet bus - a birthday party.

Vida Trout has been taking the bus every day since she stopped driving at age 93, so TriMet decided to surprise the regular rider.

The route 15 bus displayed "Happy Birthday Vida" on its message board, and a TriMet official was on board to personally wish Trout a happy 102nd with cupcakes and gifts, including a pass that allows her to ride the bus for free for the rest of her life.

Trout's sister has also lived a long, healthy life. She just turned 104 in May. Trout said they have a few simple rules to ensure their longevity.

"We don't drink or smoke or carouse around," Trout said. "We do things regularly. I think that's important."
