Suspect in custody after standoff with police

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A suspect was taken into custody after a standoff on the 600 block of West Rankin Street in Flint.

The standoff ended peacefully after police talked the 18-year-old suspect out of the standoff situation, said Jason Lorenz, public information officer of the city of Flint.

The suspect had barricaded himself in the home after police responded to shots fired in the area of West Rankin, Lorenz said.

The shots were fired at 8:24 a.m. The suspect was in custody at 10:10 a.m.

The Michigan State Police, Flint Police and the Genesee County Park Rangers responded to the scene.
