Bicyclists ride trail to honor slain girl

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of people have pedaled their bikes on a Macomb County trail to honor a 14-year-old girl who was killed while walking her dog.

Greg Ezzo says he usually gets eight to 10 riders each Sunday night, but as many as 400 rode through Armada on the Macomb Orchard Trail.

He tells The Macomb Daily that information about the ride "spread like wildfire."

Ezzo says people want to show that the death of April Millsap won't keep them off the popular trail.

April was killed in the early evening of July 24 while walking her dog, Penny. Her body was found in a ditch near the trail. A funeral was held Friday in Armada.

No suspects are in custody. Investigators planned to meet again Monday.
