LEWISTON, MI (WNEM) -

A 9-year-old boy is dead after an incident at a campground in Lewiston on Friday, police said.

The Montmerency County 911 Center received several 911 calls from individuals at the Little Wolf Lake Campground. The callers reported a 9-year-old male drowning victim.

The callers told the 911 center the boy had been in the water 10 to 15 minutes and had since been pulled from the water, police said.

A bystander initiated CPR on the boy and then turned him over to an off-duty paramedic who was staying at the campground, police said.

Montmerency County Sheriff's deputies said there was no lifeguard on duty, but there was adult supervision at the beach.

Jayce Lawson, of Flint, was seen playing in the water with his sister and other children prior to the incident, police said.

Upon arrival of the Lewiston EMS Lawson was transported to Otsego Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No foul play is suspected in the incident, police said.
