Woman treated at airport after pepper spray explodes in baggage claim

A woman had to be treated for breathing issues on Wednesday morning after a bottle of pepper spray exploded in the baggage claim of the airport in Charlotte.

Medical crews were called to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport on Wednesday morning around 6:40 a.m.

When they arrived, they found a woman having trouble breathing.

Officials say the woman was opening her bag at the baggage claim when her bottle of pepper spray exploded.

She was treated by MEDIC, but was not transported to the hospital. Medical crews left the airport about 30 minutes later.
