Restoration businesses hard at work after flooding

BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

The massive clean-up continued Wednesday after the widespread flooding that hit Mid-Michigan earlier this week.

Restoration companies have been swamped with calls since the area got several inches of rain on Monday.

"Every time it rains the street gets flooded," said Ed Wizner, Bay City resident.

Severe flooding landed on Mid-Michigan like a ton of bricks earlier this week.

Wizner was lending a helping hand to his daughter.

"We started sucking the water out with a wet vac," he said.

Wizner's daughter said she moved much of her basement furniture outside after dealing with the flooding.

Soon after the damage, Wizner and his daughter called Paul Davis Restoration. The company rolled out their heavy duty equipment.

After the flooding in Bay City, the number of calls to some flooding increased. Meanwhile workers said it's just part of a good day's work.

"Feels good to help someone," Shane Gassman said.

Wizner said he's grateful that he's able to help his daughter when she needs it.

Experts said when your house is flooded it's better to call a professional immediately so they can get in as quick as possible to limit the damage.
