PHOENIX (CBS5) -

William Singer Jr. says he tries to focus on the many wonderful years his dad and stepmother shared together.

"They had just celebrated in March their 39th wedding anniversary. It's very nice to have those memories especially when you are so sad and so angry because they were taken so quickly," said William Singer Jr.

Late Wednesday afternoon, Phoenix police released two composite sketches of men they call persons of interest.

In early July, investigators said they tried to get into at least one man's home in the neighborhood by pretending to work for the cable company. According to police, men claimed there had been a power outage and that they needed to reset a cable box.

News of the sketches quickly spread from Phoenix to Indianapolis giving Singer new hope that whomever killed his parents might soon be brought to justice.

"It's really important to us, to everyone in our family that no one have to go through either what my parents went through or what we've gone through," said William Singer Jr.

Police said they believe William and Barbara Singer were forced to go to an ATM near their home. One at a time, they withdrew money from their bank accounts before they were killed.

"It was an extremely violent death, and it was something that shocked the conscious of some of even our seasoned investigators," said Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos.

All of neighbors CBS 5 News spoke with said the men didn't look familiar. Joann McLellan lived next door to the Singers for 35 years.

"We're devastated. My whole family is devastated," said McLellan.

McLellan told CBS 5 News she has a tough time believing those men would have been able to get into the Singer's house.

"Barbara and Bill never had cable. They used antennas, and the antennas are on the house," said McLellan.
