Residents eat pancakes on the bricks

Posted: Updated:

Residents turned out Friday morning for an all-you-can-eat pancake event outside the TV5 studios in downtown Flint.

Residents lined up to have flapjacks flopped on their plates at the Pancakes on the Bricks breakfast.

Jesse Prevalet has become quite adept at tossing the cakes on people's plates.

"The secret comes in my arm, I practice really hard, make sure it comes out," Prevalet said.

Chris Cakes serves thousands of hotcakes across Michigan every year. The company even has a special apparatus that drops the batter on the griddle.

"That's called our dispenser, it is patented and that's what makes Chris Cakes unique other than our flipping abilities," said Patty Cakes, owner of Chris Cakes.

Radio station CARS 108 broadcasted the event live from downtown Flint.

"Downtown is really coming back to life and what a great way to start the weekend, free breakfast, flying pancakes, you can't beat it, it's a great time for everybody," said Jeremy Fenech, with CARS 108.

Dort Federal Credit Union was a big sponsor of the event and hopes to make it an annual tradition.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for the Flint community to show off the city, show off our downtown and for our citizens to show some pride in what we've built down here," said Jenny Ludwigsen, with Dort Federal Credit Union.

WNEM TV5, CARS 108, and Dort Federal Credit Union sponsored the Pancake on the Bricks event.
