GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The driver of a truck has been killed after an accident near the Mounds Off Road ORV Park in Genesee County.

The area is located at 6145 East Mt. Morris Rd. near the EA Cummings Center in Mt. Morris Township.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police have determined the cause of 25-year-old Ryan Murany's death. He was electrocuted after his pickup truck crashed into some power lines.

Murany, of Genesee Township, was traveling eastbound on Mt. Morris Road when his truck left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole. The power lines came down onto the cab of the truck and started the vehicle on fire.

The man was able to make it out of the cab.

"Our park staff noticed a vehicle eastbound on Mount Morris Road, traveling at a normal rate of speed, drift off the roadway. He hit a power pole. The victim got out of the vehicle and then went down," said Kevin Shanlian, chief ranger of Genesee County Parks.

The chief said those power lines were energized with 4,800 volts of electricity when they came down and made contact with the pickup truck.

It's still unclear why the driver lost control of the truck in the first place.

"We don't know. We're still in the preliminary parts of our investigation. We don't know what caused him to leave the road," Shanlian said.

Power was knocked out to about 275 customers in the area.
