Storms on the Way?

Thunder returning to Mid-Michigan

Posted: Updated:

Quiet weather is expected across Mid-Michigan for most of our Thursday, but a warm front to the south of the region could look to change that later tonight and into Friday.

A storm system over the northern and central Plains will continue to advance eastward today, pushing and area of thunderstorms along with it.

Out ahead of it, a thin wedge of drier air will maintain a brief hold on our weather, providing us with a mix of clouds and sunshine for the balance of the daytime.

There is a slight chance that a widely isolated shower or thunderstorm could develop during the evening, but the vast majority of us will remain dry during the day.

As the system approaches lower Michigan, it will tend to force a warm front northward across our region.

This will spill warmer and muggier air into the region, and will provide a focal point for more thunderstorms to develop during the overnight period.

Thunderstorms are expected to become more numerous after midnight, and will likely make the morning commute on Friday a wet one. The arriving storms are not expected to become severe at this time, but count on TV5 to keep you updated.
