AVONDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A 44-year-old man is suspected of sexually assaulting a woman before and after an order of protection was granted by Avondale City Court.

Michael Crumity was arrested Wednesday afternoon and booked into jail on two counts of felony kidnapping, two counts of felony sexual assault, 10 counts of failure to comply with a court order and a felony count of aggravated harassment.

The victim told Avondale police Crumity dragged her into a closet at his apartment June 6 and tried to force her to have sex, according to a police officer's probable cause statement.

She said she suggested they go to the bed and, fearing further injury, consented to sex, according to the statement.

She said Crumity later apologized and she told police she didn't want to press charges, claiming she felt he was sincere in his apology and she had the order of protection, which was granted June 9, according to the statement.

The victim called police again on July 13 and said Crumity had hidden himself in the back of her SUV in the early morning and as she drove on Interstate 17, he popped up, told her he had a gun and ordered her to drive to his apartment, where he sexually assaulted her, according to the statement.

The victim again called police, this time wanting to press charges, and agreed to a phone call with Crumity as part of the investigation. During the call, Crumity apologized and said he didn't have a gun. She also provided several text messages to show Crumity had violated the order of protection, according to the report.
