HAWKINS COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

A 54 year-old Hawkins County man is behind bars and facing several charges including attempted arson.

Authorities say they arrested Donnie Brooks after responding to a 911 call from someone claiming Brooks doused his ex-girlfriend and her house with a gasoline/oil mixture.

On Saturday, Brooks went to pick up a few of his things at his ex-girlfriend's home on Lakemont Drive when police say an argument began. Brooks then allegedly started slinging the gasoline mixture on his ex-girlfriend's face, mouth, clothes, and on her back porch all while holding a lighter in his hand. Once his ex-girlfriend started yelling for her friend inside the house to call police, Brooks got in his truck and drove away.

Brooks is being charged with aggravated assault, domestic aggravated assault, and attempted arson.
