Community welcomes back teen after six months in hospital

MILLINGTON, MI (WNEM) -

A local teen is finally back in his own home after spending six months in the hospital fighting for his life.

His return home was anything but ordinary as the entire community of Millington came out to celebrate Brady Gulledge.

Love and support lining the track, symbolic of the uphill journey for the 14-year-old Gulledge.

Six months ago, the eighth grader was rushed to Mott's Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor with the H1N1 flu and a MRSA infection.

It was an infection that severely damaged his lungs and forced him to fight for every breath and his life.

Brady will now begin a new chapter in his life, hoping to fall back into a typical healthy teen.

Brady's mother says that doctors don't want him to head back to school yet. In about a month, they will assess his health and come up with a date for him to return back to the classroom.
