PINE POINT, ME (WGME/CNN) – A 14-year-old Maine girl made the catch of the lifetime! Meghan LaPlante and her father, Jay, recently caught a rare blue lobster.
They're used to snagging the regular, red kind for the Miss Meghan Lobster Catch Company.
Meghan's mom discovered only one in two million lobsters were blue, so Meghan arranged to give it a new home.
“We're going to give it to the Maine State Aquarium in Booth Bay Harbor,” Meghan said. “I didn't want anyone else to have it, like to hurt it or cook it, so we'll donate it so it doesn't get harmed and it can live.”
Meghan named the blue lobster Skylar. The Maine Aquarium plans to run tests and put Skylar on display soon.
