Cool and quiet before the holiday weekend

Posted: Updated:

High pressure will settle over the Great Lakes on Thursday, and will keep temperatures on the cooler side.

What began as a downright chilly morning by August standards, will see bright sunshine warming temperatures into the upper 60s and lows 70s around Mid-Michigan by Thursday afternoon.

That, coupled with low humidity levels will result in an almost Autumn-like feel in the air, but certainly a refreshing change of pace after the hot and muggy start to the week.

Looking ahead, high pressure will begin to lose ground to an approaching storm system over the central Plains as we head into Thursday night and Friday.

As a result, the chance will exist for showers and thunderstorms throughout our Labor Day weekend.

The greatest chance for widespread thunderstorm activity looks to be later on Friday and into Saturday, with slightly reduced chances for more scattered-variety storms on Sunday and Monday.
