CLEVES, OH (FOX19) -

The body of Bryan Morales, the 8-year-old boy who fell into the Great Miami River Monday, was recovered Wednesday.

Crews began day three of search efforts around 11 a.m. once the morning fog cleared. The search for Morales was been focused in the river along U.S. 50 near U.S. 128 since Monday afternoon.

On Tuesday, search efforts were also shifted from "rescue mode" to "recovery mode" before being halted around 9 p.m.

Harrison Fire Department Chief William Hurgson said sonar technology located an unidentified object of interest Tuesday afternoon near the mouth of the Whitewater River, where Morales was last seen.

A strong undercurrent and high waters caused a rescue boat investigating the object to capsize around 5 p.m. Officials say the divers who fell in the water were not injured, but the incident delayed efforts to search for the boy.

Morales is from Kentucky, according to his brother who called 911. He struggled to indicate what river they were fishing at or how the family got there. It took about 12 minutes for the first responders to locate the family.

To extend their search, crews moved further downstream near the 3100 block of Lawrenceburg Road, right over the Great Miami River. Morales was not wearing a life jacket, authorities say.

"We've searched on land, we've searched on water," Whitewater Township Assistant Fire Chief Mike Siefke said Monday. "Don't underestimate the river. It's a dangerous place."
