LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A homeless woman arrested after a man's fatal shooting inside an east Las Vegas home told witnesses she had to "kill him" and that her boyfriend "was trying to kill her," according to police.

An arrest report released Thursday identified Marjorie Fiora, 30, as the suspect in the death of 56-year-old Joseph Sheldon Levine. His cause and manner of death remained pending, the Clark County Coroner's Office disclosed.

According to the report, police were called to a home at 1200 Franklin Ave., near South Maryland Parkway and East Charleston Boulevard, for a shooting at about 6:03 p.m. Wednesday.

Joseph Levine's brother, Arnold Levine, told police a woman named Maggie, who was later identified as Fiora, was holding a double barreled shotgun in her hands after hearing a bang coming from inside the home.

In documents, Arnold Levine told police he, another brother and Fiora had just got out of a backyard pool before she went inside the home where Joseph Levine was cleaning.

Citing Arnold Levine, police stated the brother was able to get the shotgun away from Fiora after the shooting while the other brother, Kenneth Levine, tried to wrestle her in the backyard to detain her for officers. She later escaped to a nearby home by breaking into the residence. Documents state she stole a dress in the house where two women were inside.

In the report, the women told a detective Fiora was fleeing from her boyfriend and asked them not to call police.

Police said Fiora then escaped to the backyard of another home where a K-9 officer located her. Fiora later requested for an attorney during her interview with detectives.

Joseph Levine was rushed to University Medical Center, where he died of a gunshot wound of the chest, the report said.

Documents stated Fiora was born in Georgia but was homeless in Las Vegas, living in the area of Maryland and Charleston. Police also said the victim knew the woman and allowed her to stay at his home.

Fiora was booked into Clark County Detention Center on counts of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, first-degree home invasion and first-degree burglary.

This marked the 88th homicide investigated in Metro's jurisdiction so far in 2014.
