BURTON, MI (WNEM) -

Three family members are facing charges in a hit and run death from nearly a year ago.

Attorney General Bill Schuette filed charges against Scott Gunn of Burton on Wednesday for hitting and killing 34-year-old Jeffrey Lee on Dort Highway.

The incident happened Saturday, Sept. 28 on Dort Highway. Lee was attending a wedding reception at the Fraternal Order of Eagles club on the north side of Flint.

He was struck by a dark colored 2008 or newer Chevrolet Silverado. The truck was followed by a silver or gray Chevrolet Impala.

Lee was a trucker. "He loved to truck," said his mother Brenda Miracle. Miracle said Lee was also a dedicated father to three children ranging in age from 14 to 8 years old.

Gunn's parents, Sherry Long and Leon Gunn, are also facing charges for tampering with evidence and attempting to cover up their son's crime.

Police say the pick-up truck that killed Lee was registered to Long, but was being driven by Scott Gunn.

Sherry Long is an employee at the Genesee County Prosecutor's office but is currently on suspension.
