Police arrest man involved in beating, home invasion

SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Police have arrested a man who they say attacked another man with a hammer during a home invasion on September 27.

The victim was actually trying to thwart a robbery attempt at his home when he was attacked.

The burglary happened in Shiawassee County's Middlebury Township.

The victim noticed a red pick-up truck in his driveway on M-21 and attempted to go inside the home. When he entered inside, he was knocked to the ground and hit in the face and head repeatedly with the hammer.

The suspect, 39-year-old Jason Darwin Young Sr. of St. Johns, has been charged with first degree home invasion, breaking and entering and habitual offender fourth notice for his alleged involvement in the incident. He is currently lodged in the Shiawassee County Jail.
