Clouds on Friday set up a brighter weekend

Posted: Updated:

Slightly milder temperatures are on the agenda for our Friday across Mid-Michigan. Highs today will reach the middle and upper 30s coupled with little, if any, wind. This will keep the biting wind chills out of the equation.

Increased cloud cover will also have control of the skies, streaming in ahead of a storm system over the Plains. This system will sneak but just to the south and east of our region overnight, keeping the precipitation mostly out of lower Michigan.

Current forecast models depict this as about as close of a glancing blow as you can get, with overnight rain coming just shy of the southern extent of Genesee and Lapeer Counties.

By Saturday morning, clouds will begin to decrease as the storm moves in the Northeast and New England. Though sunshine should begin to break back out, winds will pick up a bit as well. Temperatures should remain at normal December levels in the middle and upper 30s.

Brighter weather will continue on Sunday with precipitation staying out of the forecast until Monday.
