From fog to scattered snow

Posted: Updated:

From morning fog, to scattered snow showers we go today. Monday's wintry mix broke down overnight, leaving us with areas of fog to start our Tuesday. This will thin out as the morning progresses, but lingering north winds will present some issues later in the day.

Skies will remain largely overcast as an area of low pressure slowly slips from Michigan in the Ohio Valley. Temperatures will be kept on the milder side for the first part of the day, rising into the middle and upper 30s by early afternoon.

A secondary cold front will move across the region during the afternoon, ca suing temps to drop during the evening. The front itself may contribute to some hit-or-miss snow showers, but it will cause winds to shift into a northerly direction. This may set off a round of lake effect snow showers over the Thumb and possibly even off of the southern extent of Saginaw Bay. Little to no accumulation is expected with any snow showers.

Chillier air will have the run of things on Wednesday, but we stand to see much more in the way of sunshine through the first half of the weekend. Milder air will also make a return by the end of the week.
