DETROIT (AP) - Governor Rick Snyder has torn his right Achilles tendon and will be in a cast for six weeks.

The Republican governor told reporters Sunday that he felt a "pop" after jogging during a vacation in Florida. He's since visited doctors in Florida and Michigan.

Snyder says jogging is part of his Healthy Michigan initiative, but tells The Detroit News that he "overdid it." Spokeswoman Sara Wurfel says Snyder describes the pain as "not horrible."

Michigan's chief executive has been mentioned as a potential 2016 presidential candidate and he typically deflects such talk without dismissing it outright. He was asked again on Sunday about running, and responded that he's "working on literal running first."

Snyder was at Detroit's Cobo Center, participating in a forum on U.S.-Chinese automotive issues.
