Mid-Michigan wakes up to Arctic chill

Posted: Updated:
Cold temperatures continue across mid-Michigan. Cold temperatures continue across mid-Michigan.
An Arctic chill has rolled back into Mid-Michigan and temperatures are barely above zero across most of the area.

A zone of high pressure over the northern Plains will settle over the Great Lakes on Tuesday, bringing the core of the cold air mass right into Mid-Michigan. Highs will struggle their way into the teens as increased sunshine may help to take at least some of the edge off of the biting cold.

The silver lining to the cold return is that is will not be nearly as prolonged or extreme as what we saw in the last 10 days. By Thursday, we will see a return to the 20s, and ultimately a rise above freezing by the weekend.

Quiet weather looks to dominate the next 7 days, with no major storms or precipitation events expected.
