Bone chilling conditions persist in mid-Michigan with sub zero temperature readings across the area. Aside from a few stray clouds, most of the area is seeing clear skies and calm winds, which led temperatures into a free fall.

Early morning temperatures have bottomed out at between -5 to -10 for most locations, but some outlying areas are seeing the mercury fall as low as -15 or locally colder.

This will be the last of the bitterly cold nights through at least the next week, however. While temperatures will again struggle only to the middle teens on Wednesday, increased cloud cover will offer us some insulation during the night. As a result, Wednesday night's lows will likely only dip to the low teens or high single-digits.

From there, a milder slate of weather will take over from Thursday through the weekend. Temperatures may even reach above the freezing mark by the weekend.
