SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Feb. 6 is National Wear Red Day.

It's a day to raise awareness for women's cardiovascular health. One in three women die of heart disease and stroke, according to the American Heart Association.

The American Heart Association launched the Go Red for Women campaign to help save lives through education and lifestyle changes.

The American Heart Association encourages everyone to wear red on Friday. The first National Wear Red Day was in 2003.

A few local businesses that are participating this year include Covenant HealthCare, TCS in Midland, Independent Bank, Chemical Bank, First Merit Bank, Garber Midland, Garber Buick, McDonald GMC in Saginaw, Caro Community Hospital in Caro, and Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City.
