Pedestrian hit by ambulance

A Saginaw man is hospitalized after being struck by an ambulance while walking along Gratiot Road Thursday evening.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. on Thursday on M-46 near Campbell Road in Saginaw County's Thomas Township.

Michael Colmus, 24, was standing on the south side of Gratiot Road near Campbell Lane when he began to cross the road.

An MMR ambulance driver tried to avoid the man, but was unable to. Colmus was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in serious, but stable condition.

The driver of the ambulance was not injured.The ambulance was transporting a patient to the Owosso Memorial Hospital.

The incident remains under investigation.
