Winter hasn't quite given up yet as a developing winter storm will arrive on Tuesday, bringing a round of snow and icy precipitation to the region.

Snow should begin to arrive at daybreak, initially impacting areas north of the Tri-Cities. This will overspread the rest of the region by mid-morning, and last well into the evening.

Temperatures during the event will approach the freezing mark, or even rise a few degrees above in some locations.

This will lead to a period of mixed precipitation in the form of sleet, freezing rain, and snow, particularly south and west of Saginaw Bay. In these areas, ice could accumulate up to 0.1" in addition to upwards of 2" of snow.

Snow accumulations for the Tri-Cities, Thumb, and west should range between 1" - 3" depending on the extent of mixed precipitation. Areas to the north will remain primarily snow for most of the day, so totals of 2" - 5" are expected, with locally higher amounts possible.

All-in-all, expect very difficult travel conditions and allot extra time to reach your destination.

Tuesday's storm will be the only real bump in the road this week, as quiet weather will take over from Wednesday through Sunday. Temperatures throughout the week will stay below normal, but trend closer to that mark by the weekend.
