DETROIT (AP) -- Michigan State-bound Deyonta Davis is Michigan's Mr. Basketball, the second straight year a Muskegon High School player has won the award.

Davis received the award Monday. It's given to the state's top senior by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan, in conjunction with the Detroit Free Press.

The 6-foot-10 Davis got 5,223 points in the balloting, ahead of Saginaw Arthur Hill's Eric Davis with 3,757 points and Lansing Everett's Trevor Manuel with 2,837 points.

Muskegon's Deshaun Thrower was named Mr. Basketball a year ago.

Heading into Tuesday night's quarterfinal playoff game against Lansing Everett, Davis is averaging 19 points, 17 rebounds and seven blocks per game and shooting 67 percent from the field.
