Flint Beecher wins third title in four years

 EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Cedric Moten scored 24 points and Flint Beecher captured its third Class C state championship in four years on Saturday with a 78-52 rout of Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian. The Bucs (26-1) had runs of eight and 14 points during a 28-9 first quarter and the Mustangs never recovered. NorthPointe had twice as many turnovers (six) than field goals in the opening period and trailed 45-21 at intermission after going 8 for 30 from the field. Samuel Toins had 17 points and Aquavius Burks scored 15 for Beecher, whose closest postseason game was an 18-point victory. Kual Nihal had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Tyler Baker added 14 points for NorthPointe (21-6).
