Despite a whopper of an early April Fool's joke for some of us on Tuesday, Old Man Winter won't have much to laugh about in the coming days.

We prepare for blastoff as our temperatures are set to soar. A warm front will press eastward through the region as the clipper departs, and skies will gradually clear into Wednesday afternoon.

Expect to be treated to some open-window weather with afternoon highs reaching the low 50s.

Temperatures won't stop there on Thursday, though there will be a catch. Increasing clouds on Wednesday night will arrive ahead of a strong cold front, and possibly drop a few showers into the region as early as mid-morning on Thursday.

Though sunshine will be more sparse, temperatures are expected to spike all the way into the middle 60s before heavier rain arrives with the front in the afternoon. We could even have a few of our first rumbles of thunder this year.

A few showers may linger on Friday with temperatures settling back to around their seasonal averages in the upper 40s. These will depart just in time for Easter weekend, and the prognosis is looking good!

Saturday looks to feature a mix of sun and clouds, along with comfortable highs in the upper 40s.

Easter Sunday could see a bit more in the way of cloud cover, but no rain or snow is expected to ruin any easter egg hunts or travels to visit family!

The early part of next week could be a bit unsettled, but we'll worry about that as it gets closer.
