Pulled over after having a drink? Download this app

Posted: Updated:

If you're pulled over after having too much to drink, there's a new app designed to help your case when it goes to court.

It's called Duey-Dialer, and its co-founder is from Mid-Michigan.

Daniel Delgado said he got the idea while out to lunch with some attorney friends. They all agreed something like this would be helpful to make sure police officers cover all their bases during a stop.

All you do is download the free app, and if you get pulled over after having a few drinks, you simply press a button to start recording. That recording will get sent to an attorney near you who specializes in DUI defense.

"You won't have somebody who calls in an attorney, and basically gives them a story of something that did not occur," Delgado said.

Many drivers TV5 spoke to said they don't think they would have a need for this kind of app.

"I probably would not download it, because I hopefully would never have a reason to use it," Alyse Robertelli said.

Delgado compared the app to car insurance. You don't know if you'll ever need it, but it's nice to have just in case.

The app is available for Android devices right now, and should be in the Apple app store soon.

While Delgado's goal is to make the app available to people in all 50 states, there are no lawyers on-board yet in Michigan.
