SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A State Police Trooper responded to an alarm at a home, lost control and flipped his cruiser in the yard of a Shiawassee County home.

It happened at around 3:15 Thursday morning.

State Police Spokesperson Lt. Dave Kaiser said the trooper was responding after a panic alarm went off at a home in Vernon Township. When the alarm company called the homeowner, they asked for help.

The 27-year-old trooper was heading that way at a high rate of speed when he hit railroad tracks on Vernon Road near Main Street, lost control and crashed.

The trooper was able to walk away, and was treated and released. No one else was hurt.

Another trooper responded to the home with the alarm, and it turned out to be a malfunction.
