Squirrel causes power outage in Sanford

Posted: Updated:

More than 2,000 customers are without power in the Sanford area in Midland County.

The power went out during the morning on Saturday, May 30.

A Consumers Energy spokesman says the outage was caused by a squirrel at the Sanford Dam substation that made contact with electrical equipment.

Crews are working to restore power. Consumers Energy expects to have the lights back on by 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
