The Department of Natural Resources is proposing new limits on what you can reel in from the Saginaw Bay.

The DNR is proposing to raise the bag limit for walleye to up to ten fish per day. The minimum length would drop to 13 inches from 15. Also, the bag limit for yellow perch would be cut by half to 25 per day.

Ernie Plant of Frank's Great Outdoors in Linwood has attended several meetings about this issue.

"The predator-prey relationship is out of balance and that's what our DNR is trying to get into balance by increasing the bag limit of walleye and reducing the size limit," Plant said.

A public meeting is being held in Bay City to discuss the proposed regulations. It's happening at Thursday, June 4 at 7 p.m. inside the Knights of Columbus Hall on South River Road.
