EF-1 Tornado confirmed in Sanilac County

An NWS storm survey team confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Sanilac County at approximately 10:07 PM last night.

The starting point of the tornado was determined to be four miles northwest of Decker, Michigan. It remained on the ground in an easterly direction before finally lifting at 10:44 PM, two miles southeast of Deckerville, Michigan.

In total, the tornado path was twenty miles, while the path width was 250 yards. The estimated peak winds of the tornado were 95 MPH. There were no injuries or fatalities associated with this tornado.

EF0: weak: 65 to 85 MPH

EF1: weak: 86 to 110 MPH

EF2: strong: 111 to 135 MPH

EF3: strong: 136 to 165 MPH

EF5: violent:  >200 MPH
