SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Anthony Hicks is grappling to come to terms with the latest loss in his life.

He said he lost his daughter, son, and sister in the past year; and, after a devastating fire this weekend, much of his home, too.

In fact, he barely escaped with his own life.

"They took me to the hospital," said Hicks. "And checked me for smoke inhalation. My heart, I've had two heart attacks, they checked me for that. And I thank the lord I came out good."

But he wasn't able to save the priceless memories of his late relatives: photos that can never be replaced.

"Those were the originals," said Hicks. "What's on the computer is on the computer, but I had more than that. I had stuff that I cannot get back."

But despite that, the longtime Saginaw County resident said he's not going anywhere.

"I'm not a troublemaker. I don't bother nobody. The whole neighborhood loves me, because I take care of the neighborhood. I can't leave the old people out here without me being here."

Hicks said he doesn't want money, just prayer, and wishes his sister were here to help him get through yet another trying time.

Spaulding Township Police told TV5 that the fire is currently under investigation, and they are not ruling out arson. A Saginaw County fire marshal is expected to investigate the scene on Monday.
