Unsettled weather continues for Mid-Michigan

Posted: Updated:

After a Saturday that brought rain for one portion of Mid-Michigan and sunshine for the other, all of Mid-Michigan was able to enjoy the sunshine today. That trend has carried through this evening, save for a few lake breeze showers in counties to the north. Besides those showers in parts of Arenac, Gladwin, Roscommon, Ogemaw, and Iosco counties, we'll stay dry tonight and into the day tomorrow.

Skies will stay partly cloudy tonight as high pressure is still camped out in the region. With that limited cloud cover, we'll see lows fall back into the upper 50s, with a few colder spots in the upper 40s in our northern counties.

The chilly temperatures in the morning will hold temperatures tomorrow out of the 80s, but the upper 70s will certainly be reachable. Skies will be partly cloudy to start the day before eventually clouding up later on in the afternoon. Chances for showers and a rumble of thunder will increase as we go further into the evening hours, but right now, the bulk of the moisture looks to remain further to the south.

The best chance of rain looks to be Tuesday, with more showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. Highs on Tuesday look to be the coolest of the week as we continue our below-normal trend, reaching only into the middle 70s. We'll carry that chance for a shower or thunderstorm through Wednesday before an area of high pressure makes a short stay for Thursday and Friday.

Your holiday weekend is back and forth at this point. Currently, it looks as though we'll see some rain on Saturday, but it looks to be on the scattered side. Models have also been backing off on the rain chances quite a bit as we've gone through the weekend. The rain chances Saturday largely depend on the progression of a lower pressure system that will work through the southern portions of the state on Friday.

Temperatures throughout the entire forecast period look to be below average. Readings in the 80 degree range will be few and far between, with the best chance for widespread 80s holding off until next Sunday.
