BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Dazzling fireworks are going to light up the night sky over the Saginaw River. It's that sight that draws nearly 250,000 people to Bay City every year.

And for the 53rd year, organizers say once again spectators will have a lot to look forward to at the Bay City fireworks festival.

Doug Clark, the president of the Bay City Fireworks festival, said it’s “going to be absolutely huge.”

Sot: "it's going to be absolutely huge you do not want to miss it"

Because Independence Day lands on a Saturday this year, organizers are amping up the grand finale show by launching 35,000 shots in 36 minutes.

"Almost equivalent to the 50th anniversary show we shot off 50,000 shells in 50,” Clark said. “So it's going to be absolutely huge you're not going to want to miss it. Saturday night is going to be pretty spectacular."
