Residents hope new development in Saginaw will bring it back to life

Posted: Updated:

Saginaw residents are excited to see new life coming back into old town Saginaw.

“Oh, it would be nice to see it come back alive,” said Jeannie Bovee.

Ruth Hidealgo said, “We need something downtown here… It’d be nice.”

Stu Kelly is the marketing director for Shaheen development. It is the company behind the new uptown area in Bay City. And now, it’s investing in Saginaw.

“We broke ground today on a new condo development,” Kelly said. “We really want people to buy here and invest. And we’re excited to be part of all the renovations that are happening in Saginaw.”

It may not look like much today, but the future site of luxury condos is just another example of revitalization coming to Saginaw.

"In sum we'll have 24 condos on site," Kelly said.

Boasting river views and up to 2,900 square feet of living space, Kelly says these new digs will be top of the line.

"Each unit will have a private entry and two-car garage,” Kelly said. “They'll come standard with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances."

He couldn't reveal a selling price range just yet, but potential buyers can expect to see the finished units within the next six months.

"Move-ins could be expected towards the end of the year," Kelly said.

Residents like Bovee say it’s refreshing to see investors continuing to rebuild the city

“It's generating some business down here, which is nice to see," Bovee said.
