Neighbors: we didn't know Omarion lived across the street

GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Beverly Ostrander was one of Omarion Humphrey’s neighbors before he disappeared on July 4, only to be found in Lake Callis days later.

“I think it’s terrible,” Ostrander said. “That little boy – he didn’t deserve that.”

Omarion lived with foster mother Lulu Richardson in a home on Mackin Street, across from Ostrander.

Richardson’s neighbor said she saw kids outside playing from time to time, but never Omarion.

"We didn't know the little boy lived across the street," Ostrander said.

The home appears to have toys for kids to play with: a frayed basketball hoop and a wooden playset are prominent in the yard.

Ostrander said she knew Richardson was a foster mom.

"The kids would be out there playing. They'd play ball,” Ostrander said. “My kids are 27 and 30 so we didn't have a lot of interaction with them as far as the kids go."

Omarion had been under the supervision of Richardson when he went missing on July 4. He'd been living with her since February.

Ostrander said the whole situation is a total shock.

"I said hi to Lulu every now and then,” Ostrander said. “I never would have thought that this would happen."
