ISABELLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Police are investigating after an 86-year-old man pointed a handgun at his great-grandson.

During an argument between the two, the grandfather felt threatened and went into his room to retrieve a .22 handgun, police said.

He then pointed the gun at his 18-year-old great-grandson with the intent of scaring him, police said.

The 18-year-old pushed the gun away, which caused the firearm to go off inside the home. It left a small bullet sized hole in the living room floor, police said.

The two struggled over the handgun and the victim was able to take control of the gun, with the help of other family members, police said.

No one was injured during the incident and police said alcohol was not a contributing factor.

The incident happened in Isabella County’s Chippewa Township.
