Police: Helicopter damages power lines, takes off

SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Police are investigating after a helicopter took out some power lines and flew away.

The incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Wednesday on the 1000 block of W. Sanilac Road in Sanilac County.

The helicopter landed in front of a manufacturing business and took out some power lines upon landing, police said, adding the business lost power.

The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department and Sandusky police responded to the scene. They observed the helicopter on the ground before it quickly took off, police said.

Thumb Electric power crews arrived to the scene and repair the damaged power lines.

No one was injured during the incident and the case remains under investigation, police said.
