Mid-Michigan beaches re-open one day after failing water quality test

Posted: Updated:
BAY COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A day after being shut down for water quality issues, two Mid-Michigan beaches have re-opened.

The results of water samples collected Thursday from the Bay City State Recreation Area and South Linwood beach exceeded Michigan’s water quality standard for full body contact recreational areas, the Bay County Health Department said.

But Friday the beaches re-opened after getting cleared by the Health Department.

Many people are looking to head out to the water as the hottest weekend of the year approaches.
