Bedroom robbers caught on video arrested Wednesday afternoon

Posted: Updated:

Two men, with guns, stealing items from a bedroom at a home in Isabella County.

It's this video that led to an unusually fast arrest for a case like this, according to Michigan State Police Trooper Brent Haag.

“Very unique. Very unique,” Haag said. “A lot of times we get dispatched to these calls and we have nothing to work with.”

After airing on TV5 and other media outlets, people quickly recognized the men in the video.

And once it aired, the tips came pouring in.

“Later that day I was receiving calls and all the same names were popping up,” Haag said. “We typed up our search warrant and an emergency support team and got a plan to hit that house later that day.”

Once inside the home, police found the items stolen in the surveillance video.

Jewelry, two TVs, guns, and a whole lot more.

That's when police brought 38-year-old Bobby Ray Ritter and 25-year-old Brock Campbell into custody Wednesday afternoon.

Between $3,000 and $5,000 worth of items were recovered from the home with the surveillance video has led police to believe the suspects are connected to other robberies.

“We're looking into these items that we know weren't taken from the house, so we're doing what we can to see if these guys were involved in any other burglaries,” Haag said.

Ritter and Campbell are each facing a minimum of 56 years in prison.

They have both been in trouble with the law before.

But thanks to this video, they won't be robbing any more homes any time soon.

“Everyone's happy in the end, bad guys in jail, victims get their property back – so good day,” Haag said.
