Davison residents to hold benefit dinner for Omarion Humphrey

GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

"We don't want his story to end with a tragedy."

And that's why Erika Kirby and Tiffany Kube said they're going to hold a memorial benefit dinner in Omarion Humphrey's honor.

"We know the date will be Saturday, July 25,” Kube said. “It will be at 3 p.m., we just haven't confirmed the location yet."

Kube and Kirby started a GoFundMe page to build a memorial to the 9-year-old boy who went missing on July 4 and was found dead at Lake Callis Park nearly a week later.

Already, the community has stepped up to help.

"We've had countless local businesses and restaurants donating prizes, gift cards, baskets for raffle items," Kube said.

The family of Omarion also needs help, too. They've also started their own GoFundMe page to raise money for his burial costs.

VISITATION

When: Monday July 20, noon to 8 p.m.

Where: Cobb's Funeral Home, 151 Orchard Lake                Road, Pontiac

Funeral is only open to family and friends

His biological dad said visitation will be held on Monday in Pontiac for Omarion, followed by a funeral on Tuesday. Visitation will be open to the public starting at noon and the Humphreys say they're grateful for the support.

Kube and Kirby want to show the family they care.

"I wanted to come help. It was really just a touching story," Kirby said.
